As Americans celebrate the end of summer and plan to pay tribute to working men and women this Labor Day Weekend, lawn mower racers will enjoy a different “Labor of Love” in Delaware “MOWhio” as the United States Lawn Mower Racing Association (USLMRA) presents the 19th Annual STA-BIL Nationals Lawn Mower Racing Championships.

Race time is 7:00 PM Saturday, Sept. 3 and 2:00 PM Sunday, Sept. 4. Admission is $5.00, free for kids 12 and under.

The weekend will also include the annual Induction Ceremony for the USLMRA National Lawn Mower Racing Hall of Fame & Museum of America, when John Nelson, “Sir Lawns-A-Lot,” and Dr. Art Neavill along with the late Charles Powell, “Mr. Mowjangles” will take their place of honor alongside legends of the lawn including “Turfinator” “Sodzilla” and “Boogie Woogie.”

Cleveland set the World Lawn Mower Land Speed Record of 96.529 mph at the Bonneville Salt Flats (Sept. 25, 2010).

“Labor Day Weekend is the time to celebrate work, but for lawn mower racers it’s time to kick grass!” quipped Bruce Kaufman, “Mr. Mow It All” USLMRA Founder and President. “We’ll also induct Mr. MowJangles, Sir-Lawns-A-Lot and Dr. Art into the National Lawn Mower Racing Hall of Fame, a place of honor that all Sod Slingers aspire too.”

The STA-BIL Keeps Gas Fresh Finals, will take place Saturday, Sept. 3, 7:00pm is the culminating event of the 18-race STA-BIL Lawn & Garden Mower Racing Series. National Points Champions in seven classes will be crowned, matching the nation’s fastest racing lawn mowers at speeds up to 60 mph in bladeless competition for trophies, glory and bragging rights. There are no cash prizes. Races will be televised on Fox Sports Net in the fall.

The U.S. Open will be run Sunday, Sept. 4, 3:00pm and will bring together racing mowers from various sanctioning bodies, clubs and independent groups from across America and Canada for mower-take-all showdowns in 11 classes.
