Mahindra USA has introduced a unique scholarship program specifically designed to support urban youth interested in pursuing a career in the agricultural industry.
In a joint effort with the National FFA Organization, Mahindra will award five, $2,500 merit-based scholarships to high school students from Atlanta, Chicago, Detroit, Houston or Indianapolis entering college in the Fall of 2015. Scholarship winners will be selected based on their commitment to pursuing an agricultural industry related secondary degree, and their current passion and leadership in high school agriculture activities as well as academic performance.
“An important component of Mahindra’s Rise initiative is to drive positive change. Partnering with the FFA to invest in the future leaders of the agriculture industry as they pursue their career dreams is vitally important to our communities,” says Cleo Franklin, Mahindra USA’s vice president of marketing and strategic planning. “We are excited to fund this first-of-its-kind scholarship program to advocate, specifically, for our urban youth interested in farm and ag careers. It is vital that we continue to promote the consciousness of the farm to food connection in our next generation.”
