Massey Ferguson has introduced its new 1700E Series of economy compact tractors. Three models are available ranging from 24.0 to 38.5 horsepower, along with two transmission choices.
“Simple design, powerful engines and rugged construction make the 1700E Series a steadfast workhorse,” says David Bercik, Massey Ferguson product marketing manager. “On the farm or at the work site, operators will find just what they need to make short work of a variety of tasks, from mowing and grading to hauling and loader work.”
All models feature open platforms, four-wheel-drive front axles, hydrostatic power steering, and either a two-year or 2,000-hour warranty. As well, each model comes standard with steel foot decks, rear fenders, hood, and transmission cover for a long service life.
The 1700E Series boasts new Shibaura engines in 24.0 engine HP (MF1726E), 34.0 engine HP (MF1734E) and 38.5 engine HP (MF1739E) configurations. Massey Ferguson says these three-cylinder, water-cooled diesel engines are designed for simple operation and maximum efficiency.
“Thanks to an electronic engine management system, the turbocharged engines generate ample power and torque to handle challenging conditions and tough jobs, while still complying with the EPA’s stringent Tier 4 emissions requirements,” Massey Ferguson says in a release.
Customers can choose between a traditional mechanical gear transmission, ideal for mowing and hauling, and the convenient hydrostatic transmission, well suited for loader work.
The mechanical transmission features a 9- by 3-inch constant mesh design with nine forward and three reverse speeds. Simple hand levers and a foot clutch allow for convenient speed changes to match the job at hand.
The three-range hydrostatic transmission offers clutchless foot pedal control for forward and reverse speeds, moving from zero to maximum speed without a single gear change.
Open-center hydraulics, a 540 rpm rear PTO and a beefy three-point hitch are designed to let operators accomplish more each day with fast response times and ample lift capacity. All tractor models can be equipped with a front loader and joystick control, as well as up to two rear remote valves for connecting and powering additional mounted or pull-type hydraulic implements.
