New Holland has taken the covers off its new and upgraded TD4F Series, which is based off the TD4000F tractor range.
The new series offers three models with horsepower ranging from 65 to 88: TD4.70F, TD4.80 and TD4.90F. They feature a new hydraulic power shuttle, entirely redesigned ergonomics and new styling, a rugged servo operated PTO, and easy access hydraulic couplings.
Low profile and narrow, the TD4F tractors can work in anything from confined spaces and the tight rows of orchards, to nut growers and vineyards.
Each tractor is powered by the four-cylinder F5C turbo intercooler engine, which also runs the T4F/N/V series with a torque reserve of up to 46%. In addition, the low 2300 rpm rated speed reduces noise and vibration, resulting in greater operator comfort. The Tier 3 compliant engine has long service intervals of up to 600 hours. This, combined with the low fuel consumption and a large 80-liter fuel tank, means more uptime, productivity and cost efficiency.
A new Power Shuttle transmission that ensures smooth and modulated shift between forward and reverse is available for the top of the range version. The Power Shuttle lever is mounted on the steering wheel and easy to reach, and can be operated without using the clutch pedal.
The established 20×12 creep speed transmission is offered in mechanical Syncro Shuttle configuration alongside the standard 12×12 version.
The entirely redesigned braking system offers better operator comfort and safety. According to New Holland, less pedal travel and improved system responsiveness provide a much more positive braking performance and operator safety, especially on slopes where fast activation is crucial.
Brake and throttle pedals have been relocated, the hydraulic levers are easy to reach and the servo PTO is now positioned to make it even easier to use. Controls are positioned so they are easy to operate with key transmissions and hydraulic levers grouped in a wider spacing, so that operator can easily use them without needing to stretch. A bigger storage box is found on the left hand side. Also new is a redesigned hood, updated fender design, platform trims, and rear hood.
All TD4F models feature separate power steering and hydraulic pumps. For demanding applications, a 61-liter/min. capacity MegaFlow pump can be specified. Up to four rear valves plus two midmount valves can be specified with a joystick control. New Holland’s exclusive Lift-O-Matic rear linkage control enables the operator to raise and lower implements to a preset position using a single button.
Engaged via a servo-assisted control conveniently located under the steering wheel, the rear PTO on TD4F tractors have a direct drive PTO system that reduces power losses and the number of parts liable to wear within the transmission. Operated by a hand lever, the PTO clutch allows the operator to feed power to a driven implement gradually, which reduces wear and tear. The three available speeds: 540, 540E and Ground Speed, enable the operator working with an implement at reduced engine speed, adjusting it on different and difficult terrain conditions.
